Phone Setup and Adjustments
Click on one of the choices below to view the contents.
Initial Setup
Tap
Sign In.
Tap “
Email or Phone
” under “Sign In”.
Enter your SLU email address.
Enter your SLU password.
Complete the multi-factor authentication challenge.
Tap and slide your finger to scroll downwards until you see “Activate this device admin app”.
Tap
Activate this device admin app
.
Your device will take a moment to register and verify.
Tap
Next
three times.
Tap
Got it.
Set Your Phone's Time Zone
Tap on
your icon in the top left
of the phone’s display.
Tap
Settings.
Scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap
Device settings
.
Tap
Date & Time.
Tap
Select time zone.
Scroll through the list and
select your desired time zone
.
Change Screen Brightness
Tap on
your icon in the top left
of the phone’s display.
Tap
Settings.
Scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap
Device settings
.
Tap
Display.
Under
Backlight
, slide the bar left or right to choose your preferred level of brightness.
Change Phone Volume
The volume of your phone can be adjusted with the
+ and - buttons
to the right side of the screen.
Making Calls and Call Controls
Click on one of the choices below to view the contents.
Making Calls with the Dial Pad
Lift the handset from the base.
Enter the phone number you would like to call.
Either tap the Call button or wait 5 seconds and the call will begin automatically.
To end the call, hang up the handset or press the “End call” button.
Calling Contacts from the Contact List
Lift the handset from the base.
Tap
People
.
Tap on the “
Search for people
” text.
Begin typing the name of the person you would like to call. St. Lawrence University faculty and staff will be suggested automatically.
When you find the name of the person you would like to call,
tap on their name
.
You can repeat the process to call multiple people at once this way.
When you have added all of the people you would like to join the call,
tap the Phone button
next to the list of names.
You can remove a name by tapping on the list and using the backspace button to erase the specified name.
Switch to Speaker Phone
Tap the
speaker phone button
(🔊) to the right of the screen to use speaker phone.
Lift the handset from the base OR tap the speaker phone button again to return to using the handset.
Place a Call on Hold
While in a call, tap the
Hold
button to put the call on hold.
Tap the
Resume
button to resume the call.
Mute your Microphone
To mute yourself in a call, tap the
Mic button
. Your mic will switch to saying “Mic off”.
Tap the button again to unmute yourself. Your mic will will switch to saying "Mic on".
Use the Dial Pad During a Call
While in a call, tap
More.
Tap
Dial pad.
Transfer a Call
While in a call, tap
Transfer.
You will have two options, Transfer or Consult then transfer.
Transfer
will simply send the person(s) to whom you are speaking to another recipient to take the call for you.
Consult then transfer
will allow you to speak with the person you intend to transfer the call to, and from there will have options to complete the transfer or return to the original call.
Enter the phone number or name of the person to whom you want to transfer the call, then
tap their name/number
when it appears.
Tap
Transfer/Chat.
Turn on Live Captions
While in a call, tap
More.
Tap
Turn on Live Captions.
After a few moments, live captions will appear on the phone's screen.
Voice Mail
Click on one of the choices below to view the contents.
Listen to Voice Mail Messages
Tap the
Voicemail
button.
This will play your voicemails through the speaker phone. If you would like to listen to the voicemail using your handset, first lift the handset to your ear, then tap the Back button at the top left of the screen to return to the home menu.

ap on the one you would like to listen to

Tap the
Play
button (▶️) to listen to the voicemail.
Delete Voice Mail Messages
Tap the
Voicemail
button.
Scroll through the list of voicemails and
tap on the one you would like to delete
.
Tap the
Delete
button (🗑️).
Tap
DELETE.
Return Calls from Voice Mail
Tap the
Voicemail
button.
This will initiate your call through the speaker phone. If you would like to listen to use your handset, first lift the handset to your ear, then tap the Back button at the top left of the screen to return to the home menu.
Scroll through the list of voicemails and
tap on the one you want to return
.
Tap the
Call
button (📞). Your call will begin immediately.
Change Your Voicemail Message
Your voice mail message can be changed from the Microsoft Teams app on your computer or smartphone.
