Setting Up Outlook Desktop App on a Windows Device

Prerequisites

In order to configure SLU email on your Windows PC, you will need to install Microsoft Office 365.

Instructions

  1. Open the Microsoft Outlook desktop application.
  2. Click Sign in or create account.
  3. Type your full St. Lawrence Email address and then click Next.
  4. You'll now be directed to a St. Lawrence login page, type in your St. Lawrence network password
  5. Click Sign in.
    • Complete the MFA prompt if necessary.
  6. You'll see a screen that says "Stay signed in to all of your apps." If you wish to have all office applications signed in with your St. Lawrence credentials click OK.
  7. You should now see an "Account successfully added" screen.
    • Un-check the box next to "Set up Outlook Mobile on my phone, too" 
    • Click Done
  8. Click Accept when prompted to "Accept the license agreement."

If you wish to use the New Outlook instead of Legacy Outlook (default):

  1. Click Switch on the toggle in the top right corner next to where it says "Try the new Outlook."
  2. When prompted to "Import your settings," click Import if you wish to do so.

Outlook is now configured on your device

Additional Information

Please be aware that your upgraded mailbox has a feature called a focused inbox. This will filter mail that outlook thinks is important into you a focused inbox. If you do not wish to use this feature please review Microsoft's information to disable it.
