How to find your MAC address on Computers, Phones, and Tablets

Overview

Your device's MAC address is a unique address that allows a network to identify which device is which. If IT asks you for your MAC address, it is so that we can better identify your device on our network so we can help troubleshoot any internet issues you are experiencing.

Instructions

Windows
  1. Open the Command Prompt.
  2. Type in "ipconfig /all" (without the quotation marks)
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Scroll through the list until you find "Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi" (if you need the Wi-Fi MAC address) or "Ethernet" (if you need the wired MAC address)
  5. The MAC address will be listed next to Physical Address.
Mac
  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Click Network.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. The MAC address will be listed next to Wi-Fi Address.
iPhone
  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Tap on About.
  4. The MAC address will be listed next to Wi-Fi Address.
Android
  1. Open the System Settings app.
  2. Tap on About phone.
  3. The MAC address will be listed under Device Wi-Fi MAC address.
