Record a Screencast with Screenpal

Getting Started

  1. Sign in via our single sign-on (SSO) portal at https://screenpal.com/stlawu with your St. Lawrence University credentials. If your students will use ScreenPal, it's wise to have them sign in at least once to activate their account.
  2. Click Start Recorder
    • If you do not have the ScreenPal application installed, you will be prompted to download and install it
  3. When the application opens, choose your recording options
  4. Click Record

If at any point you are prompted for an access URL, it is screenpal.com/stlawu. If you are asked to confirm your plan, it is a Team Plan. St. Lawrence University accounts include all of the Deluxe features such as: video editing, video playlists and channels, cloud hosting, and a stock image library.

Faculty: Creating Channels

Video Channels are a single location for your students to access all of your recordings. You can create a class channel to host your pre-recorded content and create a separate channel to allow students to submit their own recordings (e.g., their presentations).

Create a channel for student recordings

  1. Sign in at https://screenpal.com/stlawu with your St. Lawrence University credentials
  2. Mouse over Channels and click + Add Channel
  3. Give your channel a title
  4. Click Recorder
  5. Click Setup Recorder
  6. Select where to Offer recorder (where the Record button goes)
    1. On channel page
      1. Recorder appears on the channel page alongside all channel recordings. This allows you to share the link to the channel page where students can both create a recording and view all other submitted recordings.
    2. On a stand-alone page
      1. Recorder appears on a stand-alone page. This allows you to share the link to the stand-alone "recorder page" without sharing the link to the channel page. This allows students to create a recording without the ability to view other submitted recordings.
      2. You will be prompted to create a unique URL for your stand-alone page that you share with students. Use the naming convention for your Sakai site (subject+number+section+semester+year). For example, if your Sakai site is BIOL 101 01 SP20, your URL should be stlawu.screencasthost.com/BIOL10102SP20.
  7. Click OK
