Connecting to VPN with MFA

Tags vpn MFA

Important Prerequisites

In order to connect to the VPN, you must first Install and configure the Microsoft Authenticator app with push notifications as your default sign-in method.

If you do not have a smart phone or device capable of installing the Microsoft Authenticator app, you will have to change your default sign-in method to use a Phone call instead.

Connecting to VPN with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  1. On the computer or device, open your VPN settings and select Connect.
  2. You will receive a push notification to the Authenticator app on your registered mobile device, asking you to Approve or Deny.
  3. Approve the sign-in request from the Authenticator app on your mobile device.
  4. The VPN connection initiated on your computer or device in Step 1 should now be active.

NOTE: You will not be able to connect to the VPN if your default sign-in method is configured for SMS text or Authenticator App codes. You will receive the codes, but will not have a way to enter them for verification.
