Sakai Integration
There are three ways to add Panopto content to your Sakai course. No matter how you are adding videos or playlists, you should start by enabling and accessing the Panopto tool in Sakai (option 1), which will automatically create a course folder in Panopto that you and your students have access to. If you prefer to link directly (option 2) to or embed (option 3) videos (i.e., not provide the link to all videos from the Tool Menu) you can hide this tool once it has been enabled. You cannot add direct links to your videos by copy/pasting the video link from Panopto, nor can you embed using the embed code from Panopto. You must choose from the three options below.
Option 1: Add the Panopto tool to your Sakai course Tool Menu
Adding the Sakai integration will create a folder for your course and allow your students to view the contents of the course folder from the Tool Menu in Sakai. Watch a video tutorial of the following steps:
- From your Sakai site, click Site Info
- Click Manage Tools
- Click External Tools
- Check the box for Panopto
- Click Continue
- Click Finish

Option 2: Add Link to a Video to a Lesson
We are working to resolve an issue that prevents users from adding new content via this method. Existing links are not affected. Use Option 3 to add Panopto content to lessons.
This option will create a hyperlink on your lesson that students click to open the Panopto viewer and view the video in a new window:
- Create a Lesson
- Click Add Content +
- Click Add Learning App
- Click Panopto Embed
- Browse your content and click Insert
- Mouse over the link and click the Edit Icon to edit the item
- Add/Edit the Item Name and Item Description for your video
- Select New Window: in a new window
- Click Update Item

Option 3: Embed Video on a Lesson
This option embeds the video directly a lesson. Students can watch the video in the lesson or in the Panopto viewer by clicking the arrow at the bottom right of the video.
- Create a Lesson
- Click Add Content +
- Click Add Text
- Click the Add Learning App (shopping cart) icon
- Click Panopto Embed
- Browse your content and click Insert
