Class of 2023, your St. Lawrence student accounts will expire on May 31, 2024.

Graduating and graduated students, before your account is shut off, follow the guidance below to transition the services associated with your St. Lawrence University student account, including:

  • St. Lawrence University Email, calendar, and contacts.
  • Microsoft OneDrive, P Drive, Adobe Creative Cloud, or ArcGIS data.
  • Non-university services registered and tied to your St. Lawrence email account.
  • University licensed software.

Step 1: Create a personal email address.
If you do not already have one, you will need to create a personal email address to use after your St. Lawrence email has been deactivated. Microsoft recommends Gmail as a personal email provider. If you already have a personal email address, carry on with the rest of the instructions.

Step 2: Move your emails and direct people to your new email address.

  • If there are any email messages you want to keep after your account has been deactivated, you will need to move them to your personal email account. For individual emails, the simplest method is to forward them to your personal email account. If you want to export all of your emails at once, video instructions are available.
  • Set an away message on your St. Lawrence email indicating that your account will expire and where they can reach you afterwards. For instructions on setting an away message, please click HERE.

Step 3: Migrate your contacts.
It is common for the St. Lawrence email to be the default account used when adding contacts, especially on cell phones. If your contacts are saved to your St. Lawrence email, you'll need to migrate them to another place. If you don't, your contacts will be lost after your account's expiration date OR when you remove the St. Lawrence account from your phone.

Step 4: Change your email address on external services.
If you used your St. Lawrence email to register for or log in to a non-university website or service (for example, social media, banking, shopping, and job search websites), you will need to update your registration with a personal email account for that site or service. Most services require you to use the registered email to reset your password, so if you do not change your registered email account to something other than your St. Lawrence email, you may not be able to recover an account or use the service.

Additionally, for job search purposes, make sure that your email address has been updated on your resume and on any applications you have already submitted so that potential employers will have up to date information on where they can contact you.

Step 5: Migrate your data from OneDrive and Network Drives.
The data that you have stored on OneDrive and St. Lawrence network drives will need to be migrated to another place in order to have access to it.

Step 6: Migrate your Adobe files.

Transfer your Creative Cloud creations from your St. Lawrence account to a personal one using Adobe's migration tool. In order to migrate your assets, you must still have access to your St. Lawrence account and personal Adobe Creative Cloud Account.  Visit Asset Migration for Graduating Students to begin.

Step 7: Uninstall and remove University-licensed Software

University licensed software such as Microsoft Office will stop working after your account is shut off. You can purchase a personal license through Microsoft to continue accessing the product. However, other programs and services including the SLU VPN, virtual desktop, and class software such as Minitab or SPSS will not work once you have graduated. They can be removed from your computer to save space.
