Configure VPN on Windows

You may need to remove your old configuration first if you have previously used the old VPN server.

Configuring SLU VPN on Windows 10

  • Using the Start search bar on the bottom left, type Control Panel and open the Control Panel
  • Click Network and Internet
  • Click Network and Sharing Center
  • Click Set up a new connection or network
  • Click Connect to a workplace
  • Click Use my Internet connection (VPN)
    • For Internet Address, type: vpn.stlawu.edu
    • For Destination Name, type: SLU VPN
  • Click Create

* If VPN configuration is unsuccessful, please make sure to change VPN Type to SSTP *

 

Connect to the VPN on Windows 10

  • Click on the Wireless icon on the bottom right of the screen
  • Above the available connections the VPN should appear
  • If it is not located there, select Network Settings. Once in Network Settings select the VPN tab on the left to view your VPNs

 

Configuring SLU VPN on Windows 7 & 8

  • Click on the Start Menu and then click Control Panel
  • Click on Network and Internet and then the Network and Sharing Center
  • Click on Set up a new connection or network
  • Click Connect to a Workplace and then click Next
  • Click on Use my Internet connection (VPN)
    • For Internet address, type: vpn.stlawu.edu
    • For Destination name type: SLU VPN
    • Click Next
  • Enter your St. Lawrence username and password
  • For Domain type: STLAWU
  • If you are on campus while setting this up, you will not be able to connect, so just choose the Setup Connection Anyways option. Otherwise, the VPN is all set up

* If VPN configuration is unsuccessful, please make sure to change VPN Type to SSTP *

 

Connect to the VPN on Windows 7

  • Click on the network/wireless icon in the lower right hand corner of the screen
  • Under Dial-up and VPN click on SLU VPN and then click Connect
  • If you have problems with this configuration please see the additional information at the bottom of this page

 

Connect to the VPN on Windows 8

  • From the Charms Bar (place mouse cursor in lower right corner of screen to open the bar), click the Settings icon
  • Click the Wireless icon
  • Select SLU VPN and click Connect
  • Enter your SLU user name and password
    • Precede your user name with stlawu\
  • Click OK
