As an IT Help Desk Student Employee, you will be the first line of support for the technology needs on our campus. You will be taking calls and assisting with walk-ups to the desk, providing excellent customer service and listening with intent to the needs of our clients. You will also be working directly with IT professional staff as they guide you through how to best assist our clients. Over time, you will learn more useful technology skills and troubleshooting techniques, and you will be able to provide assistance not just to our clients, but to your fellow student colleagues.

You do not need an existing technology background to succeed in this role; a positive attitude, a love of collaborating with other people, and an interest in learning and growing your skills is what we look for in Student Employees.

Job Duties:

  • Providing excellent customer service to clients in person and over the phone.
  • Troubleshooting and providing support to clients with technology issues or needs.
  • Using the Service Request system to place and update support tickets that require attention from IT Professional Staff.
  • Using a combination of the IT Knowledgebase system and online searches to find solutions to questions encountered while assisting our clients.
  • Collaborating with and assisting IT Professional Staff in tasks and projects.
  • Collaborating with and assisting your fellow Student Employees to find solutions to questions and problems together.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Prerequisites:

  • Have a positive attitude and a passion for helping others.
  • A willingness and excitement to learn about technology.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be punctual and responsible.

Positive Qualities:

  • Experience as the “family IT person”.
  • Previous experience working in IT positions.
