This article outlines how to manage locally stored passwords in Windows Credential Manager.

Open Credential Manager

  • Open the Windows Start Menu
  • Search for Credential Manager
  • Click on the Safe Icon

Remove Web Credentials

Web Credentials are cached passwords from various web browsers on the computer, usually Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer. To manage these passwords, proceed with the following instructions.

  • Click on Web Credentials
  • Find the web password to remove
  • Click on the down-arrow and expand the listing
  • Click Remove
  • Note: if you are prompted for your local computer password, enter it and click OK.

Edit/Remove Windows Credentials

Windows Credentials are cached passwords from various Windows applications, such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and OneDrive. To manage these passwords, proceed with the following instructions.

  • Click on Windows Credentials
  • Find the Windows password to edit or remove
  • Click on the down-arrow and expand the listing
  • To remove the password...
    • Click Remove
  • To edit the password...
    • Click Edit
    • Enter the new password
    • Click Save
  • Note: if you are prompted for your local computer password, enter it and click OK.
