Extract audio from video in VLC

VLC 3.x on Windows 10

  1. Open VLC
  2. Click Media
  3. Click Convert / Save
  4. Click Add...
  5. Select the video file and click Open
  6. Click Convert / Save
  7. For Profile choose Audio - MP3
  8. Click Browse to choose the location to save the audio file
  9. For File name, remove the extension (e.g., .mp4) if there is one
  10. Click Save
  11. Click Start

VLC 3.x on macOS

  1. Open VLC
  2. Click File
  3. Click Convert / Stream
  4. Click Open media...
  5. Select the video file and click Open
  6. For Choose Profile choose Audio - MP3
  7. Click Browse to choose the location to save the audio file
  8. For the file name in Save As: add a .mp3 extension to your file name
  9. Click Save
